MESSAGE ON THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE RHF

Fellow Rwandans and friends of the Rwandan Heritage Foundation. Today, June 16, 2014, marks the first anniversary of our Foundation. It was on this day, last year, that Rwandans and non-Rwandans living in Cape Town overwhelmingly descended the streets of Cape Town, to attend the launch of the Foundation. As it was explained in the opening speech, our objectives are trifold:

  • Working together to equip ourselves with the necessary knowledge of our History

  • Searching, discussing and upholding our cultural structures and transmitting it from one generation to another

  • Instil a sense of social cohesion among Rwandans

In our opinion, a year has been very short –though it is a long period for others - but when we evaluate our achievements, given our limited resources and energy, we rejoice to see that we are still moving in the right direction with a focus on achieving our goals.

During this one year of existence, we have touched on all of the above objectives; by organising debates and discussions, by publishing articles about our history and social cohesion, and managed to publish a booklet about the essentials of the Rwandan culture. Furthermore, we were able to create contacts, made referrals and sent some of our realisations to benefit Rwandans living in other parts of the world such as in France, Belgium and Holland as well as in Australia. However, all this would not have been achieved, had it not been for your support that we will invaluably recognise for ever.

We take this opportunity to invite you to regularly visit our web site: www.rwandanheritagefoundation.org so that you can share with us the important knowledge that we all wish to have about our three areas of focus. We strongly believe that we will achieve our goals due to regular exchange of ideas and experiences that some of you have never ceased forwarding. We wish to reaffirm our commitment to our task, as we all understand its importance and benefits to us all. We also invite you to participate in the upcoming debates and discussions during the July month, where we will mostly focus on our culture. We hope that you all enjoy the fruits of our work.

May God bless you all.

Viva Rwanda, its history and its culture. Viva United Rwandans.
